Simple Prayers for Freedom
(Krista Bennie)
It’s been a long time, I'm ashamed of my behavior
It's been so long since I looked at your word
I just wanna cry, wanna put it all in your hands
I'm held by pride and it’s paralyzing me
CHORUS
I need freedom, help me grasp what that means
I need Jesus, will you still come for me
It's everyday that I drag your name in the dirt
I'm pavin the way for a kingdom of my own
And when I get down I just cry out your name
And to my surprise you always rescue me
CHORUS 2
I need freedom, I need out from under this sin
I need your help Lord, to live like I'm forgiven
BRIDGE
Oh I know that I'm part of your family
But why should you pardon
You deserve my everything
But accept my empty hands
CHORUS x 2

This song came out of a time when my boyfriend and I were struggling with our physical relationship and the boundaries we had set. (I told myself in the beginning that I would be honest even if it were embarrassing. Besides, this is a topic that doesn't get discussed enough in Christian circles) Anyway, I originally wrote it about that time, about just wanting God's freedom for this part of my life but now it's about basically anything I become enslaved by.
