Krista Bennie: Music/Lyrics
Surrender
(Krista Bennie)
You know the truth, so hold on to it
There is not another way
I see the tears, stream down your face
As you cry for some strength
But I never asked you to try to be
The things you desperately need
Listen to my voice and follow it
You’ll find rest and peace
Pre chorus
Cuz you can’t survive without my love
You weren’t created to
CHORUS
When are you gonna surrender your hopes and dreams
And realize that you aren’t free
I'm here waiting for you to reach for me
Can't you see without me you can't be who I made you to be
I am the way, the truth and the life
I'm the only one that is
But you're bound up to things so dear
That you won't let me in
The things that you think will make you happy
Only lead you to sin
But don’t you recall how I freed you
Died that you’re forgiven
Pre chorus
CHORUS
Well you're caught in a fight between your will and mine
Try to do it for yourself only wastin time
One day soon you’ll have to turn around and find
I died to that you could be mine ( x 2)

I originally wrote this song with my mom in mind when she was going through a hard time figuring out who God is and how that fit into her life. Then about 4 or 5 months later I was deciding what songs would go on my cd. I pulled this out with little hope for it but messed around on the guitar until I found a sound I liked. I played this song like 10 or more times in a row because all of a sudden this song was God speaking to me not my mom. I had held onto my dreams of a music ministry so hard and God was trying to get me to let go of it. Now this song is special to me because it reminds me of that day when I saw that I wouldn't be able to control what happens with music. Now it's not about me, it's not about my mom. It's just a song to all of us, a gentle challenge from God to recognize what we are holding onto and then trust that He is big enough to take care of us when we let it go.
